Turns out babies and small children are crammed into a tube whenever X-rays need to be taken (anyone else adding this to the ‘Ya Learn Something New Everyday‘ list?) and it’s equal parts hilarious and terrifying.
I don’t know whether to ‘awww’ because he looks like Pillsbury dough ready to bust out of the can or whether to ‘ahhh’ because this legit looks like torture and I’m not with it one bit.
This contraption is called a Pigg-O-Stat and according to the company’s website, it is “an all-in-one pediatric immobilization device designed for positioning infants and young children for an appropriate x-ray without significant complications.”

My 1st kid had 1 of these. They didn’t warn me. I bawled my eyes out when they put him in it because he was so scared. The pics are hella funny, but man being there in person is torture. U feel helpless…& the kid looks at you like they’re gonna mollywhop you after they get out!— Naturally Phenomenal (@Mtntop_Climber) April 27, 2019

Obviously you’ve never had a child in this device. I can tell you from experience that it’s traumatic for all. Especially if you have a child with an urgent health problem. It’s scary for the child and the parent. This pictures do not tell the entire story.— margot roth (@sarjen1311) April 27, 2019
My thought EXACTLY! Traumatic and heartbreaking to see your child panic ridden while trapped in in this device. It’s not funny. At all.— BiaB (@ZeOhGee) April 27, 2019
When you have to put your kid in one, come back and talk to me.— Lori (@IsTrumpCareDead) April 27, 2019
And my kid has complex CHDs. So she’s screaming and purple but you absolutely have to have the imaging because diuretics need altered and her medically-created stability depends on good data.— Lori (@IsTrumpCareDead) April 27, 2019
It sucks so much. It hurts that people can take something hard to do and laugh at it.
Everyone criticizing people for laughing needs to relax. Yes I have a kid need to be in one for a chest X-ray, yes they screamed and cried. They screamed and cried just as hard when I wouldn’t let them drink out of the dogs bowl— Bill Gray (@GrayStateFan) April 27, 2019
Yea, in all my years of life, how am I just now learning this?
