With a bit less than two weeks away from the premiere of the live-action version of the ‘The Lion King,’ Disney isn’t pumping the brakes on the remake run of their old animated classics at all. Early this morning the company released a first look trailer of their upcoming live-action remake to ‘Mulan.’
The latest trailer from Disney showcases footage from the live form remake of the 21-year-old Disney classic in which a Chinese woman impersonates a man in an ancient patriarchal society, to uphold her family’s honor by fighting in a war.
The role of Mulan in the new live-action remake was given to Chinese actress Liu Yifei, amongst a reportedly diverse cast.

The movie is set to premiere in March of 2020, and fans all over the world are excited about it, though some fans are already crying about the lack of music and no appearance from the a-lizard character, Mushu.

Disney has not yet confirmed or denied if Mushu will play a part in the live-action remake, though Vulture reported in October of 2016 that the script would be a mix of the original ballad of Mulan and Disney’s 1998 animated film.
“The spec script was a jumping-off point for a new take on the story that draws from both the literary ballad of Mulan and Disney’s 1998 animated film…”Vulture
There is no Mushu in the ‘Ballad of Mulan’ so who knows if we’ll actually see a character like him in this remake.
‘Mulan’ will arrive in theaters in the spring of 2020.
