After an HBO documentary and a very insightful Buzzfeed piece, the curious story of Gypsy Rose and the murder of her mother Dee Dee Blanchard has captivated audiences around the country. With the release of Hulu’s The Act in March of 2019, interest in Gypsy’s life increased even more, with watchers of the series wanting to know what may be next for Gypsy Rose who is expected to be released from jail sometime in 2024.
The startling story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard, her now ex-boyfriend, Nick Godejohn, and her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard, is the type of true crime story that we don’t hear about often. Gypsy’s mother led her daughter to believe that she suffered from a variety of medical conditions for a majority of Gypsy’s young life.
After playing pawn to her mother’s schemes for years, Gypsy recruited Nick Godejohn to murder Dee Dee Blanchard, resulting in a life sentence for Nick, and a ten-year sentence for Gypsy Rose.
Though the latest series about the Gypsy Rose case ended months ago, people are still keeping up with her. In June, representatives of Gypsy announced that she had found new love with a prison pen pal, and that the new couple was actually engaged.
Not much is known about Gypsy’s newfound love, aside from the fact that they first met in person in March of this year, and that the couple has known each for “more than a year,” according to an E! News report.
Meanwhile, a two-hour special about the relationship between Nick Godejohn and Gypsy Rose premiered today on Oxygen. It features an exclusive prison interview with Nick Godejohn and can be viewed online at oxygen.com.
